The video portal presents the consumer with a fully interactive and engaging video experience, enabling them to choose from a range service options by using their phone’s keypad. Unlike accessing video through a WAP portal, consumers can navigate whilst video is playing – for example to return to the home menu, to skip to the next clip or to separate the audio and video streams.

The popularity of social networking (UGC) web sites is an extraordinary phenomenon of the last couple of years, and these services are here to stay as there is an inherent human desire to show off and share. It’s easy enough to mobilise the playback, streaming a subset of web content to the mobile phone. This mobilisation approach misses out on the opportunity to use the 3G phone as a mobile webcam, and create and share content whenever the event occurs, using the video camera of the ever-present mobile phone.
D2see’s Oxygen platform includes a UGC application which allows users to record video content, preview it on the mobile and then upload it to another mobile or web application, together with metadata if required, in the format used by the receiving application.

The D2see chat application enables users to connect to live chat sessions – either with other mobile users or with web cam users. Multiparty chat is fully supported, enabling more than two parties to access a single service.

The D2see advertising application enables advertisements to be dynamically inserted into video services – either interstitially or via messages along the bottom of the screen. Pay-per-click models can ensure that advertisers only pay where a user has acted on the advertisement – helping to reduce the cost of the service to the consumer or increase the revenue generated by the content provider.
